Social Responsibillity

Our Philosophy

BARS+TONE knows that good business is more than just the bottom line – it’s being a good corporate citizen. From our very beginning, we have valued a strong community presence and a low environmental impact. Our efforts range from actively working with local vendors and purchasing goods from fellow small businesses to educating and encouraging the next generation of marketers and filmmakers.

BARS+TONE values its social presence in the community, taking an active role in both charitable and nonprofit organizations – in the form of pro bono work, nonprofit discounts and financial support. More than anything, we pride ourselves in doing the utmost to be a sustainable business, working proactively with clients and vendors with shared values.

If any of this resonates with you, take a deeper look into our corporate values and find out what we’re doing to live up to them.

Giving back to our community…

Over the years, BARS+TONE has partnered with many nonprofits that focus on building the community in which we call home. The following organizations are the cornerstones of their neighborhoods. We are proud to assist them through our contributions, both financial and intellectual.

Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation

Affordable housing in urban areas like San Francisco is precious and often in short supply. The Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation knows that housing is the foundation on which people build their lives and is a fundamental part of any community. BARS+TONE partnered with Landis Communications to help promote the Annual Pool Toss, the organization’s annual fundraiser and has been a contributor to the TNDC. Clinic by the Bay

Access to health care is an ongoing dilemma in the United States and throughout our region. Clinic by the Bay, San Francisco’s Volunteers in Medicine clinic, offers a volunteer-powered local solution for one of the most pressing problems facing our country today: access to affordable healthcare. BARS+TONE has been a supporter of Clinic by the Bay by producing videos that spread the word about its noteworthy cause. To learn more, visit www.clinicbythebay.org

Looking to the future…

BARS+TONE hosts students from Mount Diablo High School’s Digital Safari Academy to provide them with real-life, hands-on industry experience. The Digital Safari Academy is a three-year college and career preparation program where students experience confidence and success in a diverse environment. Participants in this innovative program learn valuable transferrable skills: project planning; problem solving; effective communication; collaboration in a technologically rich environment; management of people and resources; working with clients; and meeting hard deadlines. BARS+TONE designs and conducts a customized workshop that challenges them to develop a creative marketing strategy while delivering on client expectations. From our fictional creative brief, their strategy springs to life from their thoughts and ideas. To learn more about the Digital Safari Academy, visit: www.digitalsafari.org

Creating a sustainable business…

Many video agencies fail to realize how much waste is produced in-studio and in the office. From costumes and sets to food and office supplies, the industry is a huge contributor of waste. At BARS+TONE we are constantly exploring ways to limit our eco-footprint by educating and empowering our employees and clients to choose environmentally responsible practices in the workplace. In 2011 we advanced that commitment a step further by pursuing Green Business Certification with the City and County of San Francisco.
